Former Ole Miss center Dwight Coleby transferring to KU

LAWRENCE — Former Ole Miss center Dwight Coleby will transfer to KU, filling the Jayhawks’ final scholarship void.

Coleby, a 6-foot-9, 240-pounder, will have two years of eligibility for the Jayhawks after sitting out the 2015-16 season. He announced his decision via Twitter.

“I am excited to be a part of something special here at Kansas,” Coleby tweeted.

Coleby averaged 5.4 points and 4.8 rebounds for Ole Miss last season, averaging 16.5 minutes in 34 games as a sophomore for the Rebels. He finished with 164 rebounds, 29 blocks and a 53.2 field goal percentage.

The Nassau, Bahamas, native’s transfer uses up the Jayhawks’ final open scholarship, with the commitment of 6-foot-5 shooting guard LaGerald Vick on May 17 taking up another.
