Royals Offense Hinges on Alcides Escobar

On September 12, 2014, the Kansas City Royals were defeated by the Boston Red Sox to lose their fourth game in five days. That loss dropped the Royals out of first place in the American League Central and put their playoff chances in a bit more doubt. The next day, Ned Yost changed his lineup to what he called his speed lineup that included Lorenzo Cain hitting third and Alcides Escobar with his .305 OBP in the leadoff spot. I don’t really care what anyone says. That was a desperation move.
