The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have selected right-handed pitchers Arnaldo Hernandez and Josh Staumont from Triple-A Omaha and Scott Blewett from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, adding all three to the 40-man roster ahead of today’s reserve list deadline.
Blewett, 22, was Kansas City’s second-round selection in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft. He spent last season at Northwest Arkansas and went 8–6 with a 4.79 ERA (79 ER in 148.1 IP), and ranked sixth in the Texas League in strikeouts (100) and third in starts (25), trailing only teammates Foster Griffin and Emilio Ogando (26 each).
