The Royals made a minor move on Friday afternoon, adding minor-league outfielder Jose Martinez to the 40-man roster.
Martinez, a 27-year-old who signed a minor-league contract with the Royals last winter, hit .384 for Class AAA Omaha in 2015.
Martinez is not considered a potential big-league regular by rival scouts, but the Royals added him to the roster to protect him from being picked in the Rule 5 draft.
