We normally save this for the full season but I thought what the heck lets recognize the guys who are to a great start so far this season.
1st Half Positional Player Award: Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado
No player has hit with the all around skill this season that Escalera has for the Lexington Legends. The 20 year old is showing pop and speed while ranking in the League Top 5 of batting average, Slug% and overall OPS. On top of that Escalera has 7 outfield assist and 12 stolen bases in 14 tries. Despite his age Escalera is showing that he is ready for a bump to the Carolina league where he’ll need to improve his patience to succeed against older pitchers in a more difficult hitting environment.
