I’ve written this column before.

We’ve seen this story before. We’ve felt the same confidence; the same trepidation. The same lump in our throats that could only be cleared by a belting LET’S GO ROYALS cheer.

We’ve seen this story before.

We saw it in 1989 when the Royals signed a pair of “can’t lose” pitchers in Mark and Storm Davis. The Royals went 75-86 in a season that featured a 9 game losing streak.

We saw it in 1994 under the direction of Hal McRae.
