He hired Dave Caldwell as his new general manager. Caldwell and Khan agreed to make Gus Bradley the new head coach. The trio agreed to a four year plan to rebuild Jacksonville into a competitive playoff team.

In year one, the Jaguars finished with a record of 4-12. Quarterback Chad Henne, running back Maurice Jones-Drew, and wide receiver Cecil Shorts III were his offensive firepower.
