TALLAHASSEE | State funding for four sports facilities, including Jacksonville’s EverBank Field, is back in play, thanks to last-minute maneuvering by a powerful state senator.
Sen. Jack Latvala amended an economic development bill he sponsors to include tax incentives for the Jaguars’ stadium, which would share an undetermined pot of state dollars with the other three stadiums.
That is if the bill becomes law, which is far from a done deal because House leaders have been vocal in their criticism of sports-facilities funding. Latvala, R-St. Petersburg, said the first step is getting the omnibus bill approved on the Senate floor.
