The Jaguars have named Stefen Wisniewski as their starting center, ending a camp-long competition with incumbent Luke Bowanko.
“My goal was to be the starter and I’m excited it happened today,” Wisniewski said in the locker room. “Now I can get that off my mind and move on.”
Wisniewski, signed to a one-year contract this spring, took all of the first-team reps in practice today and Bowanko will begin seeing reps at tackle, guard and center.
Wisniewski was Oakland’s starting center the previous three years, including two years when current Jaguars offensive coordinator Greg Olson was the Raiders’ play-caller.
