A look at the top running backs in the NFL draft

POSITION-BY-POSITION: RUNNING BACKS

OVERVIEW

Georgia’s Todd Gurley looks ready to go. That makes him the top back in this draft.

Gurley’s medical re-check in Indianapolis last week went well and the prognosis on his knee is that he could be ready when training camps open. Gurley is already five months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL. He has power, speed, receiving skills and rarely fumbles.

The positive news on Gurley’s re-check likely secures him a spot in the first round, perhaps even in the teens. He could be joined in the first round by Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon, the Heisman Trophy runner-up.
