The Cyclones gutted out a 68-64 victory to open the weekend in Orlando. Iowa State had just a 15% chance of victory with three and a half minutes left in the game and missed 19 consecutive shots in the first half. Regardless, Iowa State stays undefeated.
It seemed like it took some time for the Cyclones to calibrate against a real defense but were led by an incredible effort from the Iowa State backcourt of Tamin Lipsey and Keshon Gilbert. Both had 22 points and were instrumental in the Cyclones comeback in the second half.
