Hoiberg heart surgery a success

"Everything went very well," Dr. Rakesh Suri said in an ISU press release. "The operation was a success and Mr. Hoiberg is in recovery and doing very well himself."

The surgery was not a surprise. Hoiberg had known for some time that it would be necessary to his ongoing heart condition—a bicuspid aortic valve, which later led to an aneurism that cost the former NBA player his career.

The surgery was performed to replace Hoiberg's dysfunctional aortic valve, but even after its success, the ISU shot-caller must continue to use a pacemaker.

The Hoiberg family extended its thanks to the ISU faithful for all of the fans' support.
