Colby Shane stood inside the UNI-Dome on Saturday and peered across the field. The Ames graduate saw Carson Lensing, his future teammate on the Iowa State football team.
On this day, though, Lensing and Shane were friendly foes. Both played in the 2016 Iowa Shrine Bowl in Cedar Falls. Lensing starred at defensive end for the North team, while Shane played receiver for the South.
When Shane saw Lensing standing in front of a TV camera holding a small plaque, he rolled his eyes and smiled. When the two get back to Ames, he said, Lensing is going to rub it in his face a little bit.
