Men’s Basketball: ISU announces Ernst signing

Second-team all-state big man Brady Ernst of Clinton has signed with the Iowa State men’s basketball program, it was announced Thursday. Ernst committed to joining ISU’s 2015 recruiting class last week.

The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 16.7 points and 12 rebounds per game last season, though he suffered a torn ACL in February. He is expected to be cleared to play by the fall.

Ernst gives the Cyclones, who are expected to be ranked in the preseason top-10, much-needed frontcourt depth, especially with the future of Greek 7-foot-1 center Georgios Tsalmpouris uncertain.

“We are excited to get Brady into our program,” ISU coach Steve Prohm said in a statement.
