Baseball. Long Balls Propel Iowa to 12-3 Victory

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa baseball team rode the long ball, connecting on four home runs to post a 12-3 victory over Northern Illinois on Tuesday afternoon at Duane Banks Field.

Trailing 1-0 after one, the Hawkeyes connected on home runs in the second, third, and fourth innings to take a 4-1 lead. The flood gates opened in the sixth when Iowa batted around, sending 11 batters to the plate in an eight run inning to push the lead to 12-1.

"Offensive we had some big hits, Robert Neustrom had a big day and Tyler Peyton had a grand slam to break the game open," said UI head coach Rick Heller.
