Why Colts rookie Darius Leonard's sack numbers are even more impressive than they seem

The Indianapolis Colts will face a short-handed Jacksonville Jaguars team this Sunday. Clark Wade, Clark.Wade@Indystar.com

INDIANAPOLIS – The goal is 10 sacks.

Ten. For a rookie. An off-the-ball linebacker. Playing on a team that blitzes less than just about any team in the NFL. The goal is crazy. The kind of goal a Maniac sets.

Darius Leonard set the bar for himself long before he got halfway there, long before he came roaring around the right edge, obliterated Miami running back Kenyan Drake and dragged down Ryan Tannehill for his sixth sack of the season on Sunday, making Leonard the Colts’ team leader in sacks, a half-sack ahead of defensive end Jabaal Sheard.
