Vinatieri enters history books

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Matt Overton was understandably emotional in the moment.

Two years ago, Adam Vinatieri had a perfect season snapped by a missed field goal in Week 17 at Nissan Stadium. During the third quarter Sunday, Vinatieri sent a 33-yard field goal through the uprights for his 43rd consecutive successful field goal attempt -- surpassing a record set 12 years ago by former Indianapolis kicker Mike Vanderjagt.

Overton, the fifth-year long snapper, was among the first players to congratulate the 43-year-old legend. And he was overcome for a moment while thinking about his part in the historic streak.
