ST. LOUIS – Freshman kicker Jerry Nunez and junior wide receiver/return specialist Bob Pugh have been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams player and Newcomer of the week, the Valley announced Sunday.

Once again, freshman kicker Jerry Nunez proved invaluable and deadly accurate in Indiana State’s 34-31 upset of No. 9 Illinois State on Saturday. Nunez was again a perfect 2-for-2 on his field goal tries, nailing a 41-yarder in the second quarter to give the Sycamores a 10-7 lead and a 27-yarder in the fourth to extend to a 27-17 lead.
