Former Sycamore Dustin Betz to run in U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials on Saturday

LOS ANGELES – Former Sycamore distance runner Dustin Betz has qualified and will compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Los Angeles this Saturday for a chance to compete in the marathon at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

Betz, a 2013 Indiana State graduate and native of Huntingberg, Ind., qualified for the Trials by running a 1:04.51 half-marathon time at the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon last fall – beating the qualifying standard by nine seconds.

During his Sycamore career, Betz was a standout both athletically and academically. Across both cross country and track, Betz was a seven-time All-MVC honoree and seven-time MVC Scholar-Athlete team member.
