Tauchman Called Up to Rockies

SAN FRANCISCO - Former Bradley Baseball star Mike Tauchman is headed to the Big Leagues. The 2013 consensus All-American and NCAA batting champion has been called up from the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes to the Colorado Rockies, filling a roster opening created when right fielder Carlos Gonzalez was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday.

Tauchman becomes the 15th Bradley Baseball player to reach the Major Leagues and will be the second Brave to play in the Majors this season (RHP Rob Scahill, Milwaukee Brewers). Tauchman also will become the fourth Bradley outfielder to reach the Majors, following Bill Tuttle (1954-63), Jim Lindeman (1986-94) and Baseball Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett (1984-95), and he becomes the third Brave to play for the Colorado Rockies, following pitchers Bryan Rekar (1995-97) and Scahill (2012-14).
