PEORIA – Former Bradley assistant basketball coach Ron Harris died Aug. 24 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Health Care in Peoria Heights. He was 83.
Harris graduated from Bradley in 1956, lettering in track and field, before enlisting in the U.S. Army.
He was Joe Stowell’s assistant coach from 1965-72, leaving for a head coaching position at Samford University. Harris was 20-57 in three seasons at the Alabama school.
“Ron was always a real loyal guy,” Stowell said. “I hired him and he did a good job with the freshman team. He’d do anything for you.
