DES MOINES - Just eight games into his fourth season, East Peoria native Ray Giacoletti resigned Tuesday as head men's basketball coach at Drake. The Bulldogs, just 17-53 since the start of the 2014-15 season, were off to a 1-7 start.
Assistant coach Jeff Rutter, a former aide at Iowa State and UNI and at Giacoletti's side during his time at Drake, has been named interim head coach for the rest of this season.
"Four years ago, when I had the honor to come to Drake, everything I envisioned Drake being has come true and even more so at times," Giacoletti said at his departing news conference Tuesday afternoon at the school.
