Paced by a two-under 70 by Andrew O'Brien, the Illinois State men's golf team leads the 12-team Badger Invitational after Sunday's first round at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis.
The Redbirds shot a 287 to hold a four-stroke lead over UAB heading into round two on Monday. The tournament will conclude Tuesday.
Kansas (292), Marquette (294) and Nevada (296) round out the top five.
O'Brien's round left him in a three-way tie for third in the quest for individual honors. ISU's Trent Wallace, who shot a 71, is in a three-way tie for sixth.
