Illinois State softball players Alyssa Wiebel and Emme Olson have been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week, respectively.
Wiebel went 9-for-12 for a .750 batting average in a three-game sweep at Evansville. She had a team-high 17 total bases with a 1.417 slugging percentage and .692 on base percentage. The junior had three three-hit games and belted two home runs.
The freshman Olson, an Olympia High School graduate, went 4-for-6 for a .667 batting average with a 2.000 slugging percentage and .846 on base percentage. Olson hit her fifth and sixth home runs of the season and also had a three-run triple.
