Best wishes to recent Illini football star Steve Hull, who celebrates his 25th birthday Monday.
His memorable breakout season in 2013 as a wide receiver followed three seasons as a starting safety for the Orange and Blue. Five of his last six games in ’13 saw Hull reach 100-plus yards in receptions.
In his next-to-last contest with Illinois — at Purdue on Nov. 23 — he snagged a career-best 10 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns, being named the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Week.
The very next game, on Senior Day versus Northwestern, Hull collected a career-high 13 receptions for 155 yards.
