Four downs: Former Illini defensive back Asim Pleas

Illinois football beat writer Bob Asmussen chatted with former Illini defensive back Asim Pleas, who started for Lou Tepper and Ron Turner from 1996-99. He had a monster game in Illinois' classic 1999 comeback win at Michigan, recording 11 tackles. That was 20 years and four kids ago for Pleas, who lives in Miami with wife Brandy. Son Asim Jr. just finished his standout basketball career at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. Daughter Amaya is 13, son Mason is 7 and son Roman is 4.

Pleas, 41, is part of the management team for the education department at HealthTrust.
