Say the name "Ed Martin" to a Big Ten fan and I guarantee you will get a reaction. Maybe a wince. Or an "ugh." You will hear "cheater" and "corrupt."
Jim McFarlin has a story for you. The Champaign resident played a critical role in the just-released book, "The Booster."
It tells the tale of Martin and his infamous ties with Michigan's "Fab Five." Martin died in 2003 because of a blood clot.
He was 69.
"A lot of people say it was because of a broken heart," McFarlin said. "He didn't have a will to live after that.
