MADISON, Wis. — Illinois’ 4-0 victory against Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon meant a 10-1 finish in Big Ten play and a share of the regular-season conference title — the Illini’s first since 2005.
It’s that one loss, though, that’s sticking with the third-ranked Illini.
They’re celebrating the Big Ten title, sure, but maybe not as much as if they hadn’t lost 4-3 at Minnesota on Saturday. It was Illinois’ first loss since falling 4-0 to Texas Christian on March 16 in Fort Worth, Texas, and it snapped a six-match winning streak.
“It was good to bounce back,” Illini head coach Brad Dancer said after the win against the Badgers.
