Illinois' 3 Most Likely Bowl Opponents

Illinois snuck into bowl eligibility with two wins to close out their season. At 6-6, there is no guarantee the Illini get a bowl bid with a stacked Big Ten, but there is hope of sneaking into a game this bowl season. Where could Illinois end up playing?

Pittsburgh

With the Panthers a possibility for the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit, the Illini would seem likely to meet up with Pittsburgh if they end up where many people expect them to. Coming out of the ACC, the Panthers finished at 6-6, just like Illinois.

Another ACC opponent that the Illini would likely face if the go to the Quick Lane Bowl, the Hokies may have a slightly lower chance than Pitt to end up here. Still, this is another six win team that barely snuck into bowl eligibility, so anything can happen with the matchup in that bowl game.

Marshall

Marshall is only a possibility if Illinois does better than expected in bowl placement, and ends up in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. In this case, they would be going up against a team that collected 12 wins on the season to dominate Conference USA.
