Hull City were left with their tails between their legs after a lacklustre performance from the Tigers saw them slump to a 2-0 defeat.
A brace from Stoke's skilful forward Xherdan Shaqiri saw the Potters leave Humberside with all three points and left Mike Phelan searching for his first win as full-time Hull boss.
Shaqiri opened the scoring in the first half with an exquisite effort from distance which sailed into the top corner, before later doubling Stoke's lead with a precision free-kick.
