Tiffany Smith, the wife of former Texans general manager Rick Smith, passed away on Thursday.
Smith stepped aside after 12 seasons as the Texans' GM on Dec. 31, 2017, to focus on his wife's battle with breast cancer.
"My family and I are in such gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we have received during her course of treatments," Smith said.
Texans chairman and chief executive officer Cal McNair issued a statement on behalf of the franchise offering condolences.
"My family and the entire Houston Texans organization are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tiffany Smith," McNair said.
