Texans work out Alabama linebacker Ryan Anderson

The Texans need reinforcements at outside linebacker after starter John Simon signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent.

They worked out Alabama outside linebacker Ryan Anderson on Friday, according to a source not authorized to speak publicly.

Anderson is projected anywhere from the second round to the third round.

He recorded 61 tackles, 19 for losses, nine sacks, four forced fumbles and returned an interception for a touchdown. He was named first-team All-Southeastern Conference.

Anderson has also visited the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 6-2, 253-pounder had six sacks as a junior and 11 1/2 tackles for losses.
