A mainstay in the Houston sports scene will be off the radio for the first time in nearly four decades.
John McClain, a longtime local media figure who retired from the Houston Chronicle in 2022 after 47 years at the newspaper, announced Wednesday that he had been laid off by SportsRadio 610. McClain wrote on the X plaftorm that Friday will be his last day at the station. He had been making six radio appearances each week, in addition to writing four columns and recording the Houtopia Football Podcast with co-host Sean Pendergast.
