Rockets owner Leslie Alexander has extended the contract of general manager Daryl Morey for additional four seasons, a person with knowledge of the deal said on Wednesday.
"Leslie wanted to secure his management team well into the future," said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.
Morey had one more year left on his current deal. He could not be reached for comment.
After one season working under his predecessor, Carroll Dawson, Morey took over as general manager for the 2007 season.
