A former Houston Rockets guard was found dead in a Los Angeles home early Saturday, a few hours after police said he exchanged fire with officers.

Tyler Honeycutt, who played for the Rockets and UCLA, was identified by family members, according to a Los Angeles ABC outlet.

The Los Angeles Police Department said he appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
