Houston Dynamo forward Erick Torres have been called up by Mexico’s Under-23 national team for the 2016 Toulon Tournament in France. Torres will join the 23-player squad in France on Sunday, following the Dynamo’s home game against Real Salt Lake on Saturday (7:15 p.m. CT; TICKETS).
Torres is the only player in Major League Soccer to be called into the team by Mexico.
The Toulon Tournament is set for its 44th edition and serves as preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mexico will face France (May 18), Czech Republic (May 20), Mali (May 22), and Bulgaria (May 24) in the group stage.
