Yordan Álvarez’s explosive first season in the bigs made us look back at when the Astros acquired him from the Dodgers, back in 2016. To bring the young Cuban aboard, the team sent veteran reliever Josh Fields. Almost four years later, Fields is a free agent while Álvarez is the reigning American League Rookie of the Year.
Yes, the Astros won that trade by far. Even though Fields did have a nice 164-appearance run with the Dodgers, Álvarez has what it seems to be a brilliant future ahead of him and is only 22 years old (will turn 23 on Saturday).
