Astros OF Carlos Gomez is 2-for-11 with a solo HR and three strikeouts in three rehab games with the Hooks. He tied a club record with three outfield assists Wednesday, cutting down two runners at home plate. Both represented the tying run. Gomez, placed on the disabled list May 17 with a bruised left rib cage, was hitting .182 with 6 runs, 8 doubles and 5 RBIs in 34 games. He has struck out 46 times against 7 walks.
Gomez came over to Houston, along with RHP Mike Fiers, in last year’s deadline deal which sent LHP Josh Hader, RHP Adrian Houser, OF Brett Phillips and OF Domingo Santana to Milwaukee.
