Martes rebounds in second Double-A start

The outing was a resounding success for the 19-year-old right-hander after a shaky Double-A debut last week in which yielded six earned runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings for the Hooks.

Acquired from the Marlins at the 2014 Trade Deadline, Martes excelled for Class A Quad Cities during the first half to the tune of a 1.08 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 45/13 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 52 innings (10 appearances/eight starts) before moving up to Class A Advanced Lancaster in late July.
