The 39-year-old Beltran returns to the Astros after spending the second half of the 2004 season in Houston, where his performance in the playoffs helped vault him to stardom. Last year, Beltran split the year between the Yankees and Rangers and hit .295 with 29 homers and 93 RBIs in 151 games.
The signing of Beltran marks the third major addition to the Astros' offense in the past three weeks and sets Houston up with perhaps the deepest lineup in baseball in '17.
