Packers swap punters; claim Bucs' Jacob Schum, cut Tim Masthay

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- No wonder Tim Masthay said he didn’t feel like he had won the Green Bay Packers’ punting job just yet even after the team cut his training-camp competition, Peter Mortell, on Monday.

Masthay lost his job on Tuesday, when the Packers claimed Jacob Schum off waivers. Rather than allowing Masthay to kick head-to-head against Schum in Thursday’s preseason finale, the Packers released him.

The 27-year-old Schum, who was the Bucs’ punter for all 16 games last season, was en route to Green Bay on Tuesday evening, according to his agent Corey Williams.
