Not many teams give as big an opportunity to undrafted free agents as the Green Bay Packers. While other teams like to stock up on players in free agency, the Packers like to go after prospects who don’t hear their name called during the draft.
Sam Shields is the biggest success story on the roster currently. Shields went undrafted in 2010, but is now the best cornerback on the team. The Packers defense is worse off without him and his speed.
Not every undrafted free agent will go onto be the next Shields, but many can earn spots on the roster either as a special teamer or an eventual role player at their position.
