Packers Rumors: Mike McCarthy Wants To Re-Sign Matt Flynn

The Packers struggled mightily without an established backup to Aaron Rodgers last season, so it makes sense for Mike McCarthy to try and lock up someone who can deputize for Green Bay's vital signal-caller.

Flynn completed 62 percent of his passes for 1,146 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions last season. While he wasn't able to produce at the same level as Rodgers, he still has room to improve and likely wouldn't be working with such a haphazard offensive line going forward.

From the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Mike Vandermause:

While Scott Tolzien is still under contract and widely seen as an option for the future, Flynn's familiarity with Green Bay's system and NFL experience makes him a better backup for the short-term. Still a free agent, Flynn would probably be available on the cheap.
