Mike McCarthy shooting for a fast start, winning finish

Green Bay — Every off-season Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy pores over the data, assesses the good and bad and looks for something that will pacify a sour stomach borne from the frustrations of the past season.

He always makes changes, sometimes big ones like adopting a nontraditional practice schedule or stripping himself of play-calling duties and sometimes small ones like abandoning night practices or incorporating TV timeouts into every practice.

Heading into Thursday when the first of 21 scheduled training camp practices begins at 8:20 a.m., McCarthy's changes for 2015 are aimed at accomplishing something his previous four teams couldn't — finish the season with a victory.
