Gonzaga dormitories opened a day earlier than normal to allow students attend the Zags' Saturday showdown with Saint Mary's.
Sure, the Zags thumped the Gaels 79-56 in a much anticipated West Coast Conference showdown, and the game didn’t contain the normal theatrics the rivalry game usually contains. GU pulled away on a 21-4 run to end the game after Saint Mary’s largely kept it close — and even led for 3:29 in the first half.
“It should have been a good game,” Saint Mary’s coach Randy Bennett admitted. “But we didn’t do our part to finish it.
