Leonard in position for homecoming at Whistling Straits

FLOURTOWN, Pa. — Of course Joe Leonard has been aware that this year’s PGA Championship is just a two-hour drive from his home in Wisconsin Rapids. And though he’s been a PGA of America member for just a little more than a year, Leonard hasn’t found time to make the trip to play the Straits Course. But at the pace he’s on, that opportunity will come soon enough.

Leonard, 33 and the director of golf at Bull's Eye Country Club in Wisconsin Rapids, shot an uneventful even-par 70 on Monday during the second round of the 48th PGA Professional National Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club.
