Kaufmann: Dottie Pepper starts strong in first live CBS action

CBS Sports probably didn’t get the weekend storylines it envisioned to start its 2016 PGA Tour schedule. Phil Mickelson and Jason Day, arguably the field’s two biggest draws, missed the cut, and dreadful weather fouled up the Sunday schedule of the Farmers Insurance Open.

Still, there was a lot to like about CBS’ weekend shows.

The big news surrounding CBS, of course, was the introduction of Dottie Pepper as the network’s new on-course reporter, replacing David Feherty, who moved to NBC.

Saturday was Pepper’s first live day with the CBS crew, but I got the sense she had been working with Gary McCord and Nick Faldo for years.
