Jordan Spieth switches back to old irons at Deutsche Bank Championship

NORTON, Mass. – Jordan Spieth did not play a practice round Wednesday at TPC Boston, site of this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship, but Titleist officials confirmed the two-time major winner played the course Tuesday using the Titleist 714 AP2 irons he had in the bag when he won this year’s Masters and U.S. Open.

Last week, before the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, Spieth turned heads when he decided to switch his irons and go with a set of the yet-to-be-released Titleist 716 AP2 irons. Titleist made a set of those irons for Spieth and gave them to the Texan to try, but the company’s PGA Tour reps had anticipated Spieth would transition into the new clubs during his off-weeks after the Presidents Cup.
