Former Ryder Cupper David Howell really - really - wanted to get his new year off to a good start. So much so, that he went shirtless for a shot on his opening hole at the BMW South African Open.
According to the tweet below, Howell stripped down to play a shot outside of a greenside hazard on the 10th hole, his first of the tournament. He eventually bogeyed the hole, but birdied four of his next five holes en route to a 1-under 71.
