Greens & Gridirons: Dye's River Course among golf gems around Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – “Remember, golf is fun,” John Clary told the three foursomes assembled on the first tee at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech, “but tailgating is important. So let’s keep it moving out there.”

Clary was on a tight schedule. In less than 12 hours, Virginia Tech’s football team would be trading paint with defending national champion Ohio State, a rematch of the 2014 opener in which Tech throttled the Buckeyes, 35-21, in Columbus, Ohio.
